An evening walk

 

 

 

 

A friend and I walked out on the land behind her house the other evening,
which merges with the 'Laguna de Santa Rosa' the largest freshwater wetlands complex on the northern California coast.
the air smelled of Pennyroyal , kind of minty , as it was growing in the paths and all around
Beautiful Sonoma county, I never get tired of the gorgeous oak trees

Mornings at Blackwater

Mornings at Blackwater

For years, every morning, I drank
from Blackwater Pond.
It was flavored with oak leaves and also, no doubt,
the feet of ducks.

And always it assuaged me
from the dry bowl of the very far past.

What I want to say is
that the past is the past,
and the present is what your life is,
and you are capable
of choosing what that will be,
darling citizen.

So come to the pond,
or the river of your imagination,
or the harbor of your longing,

and put your lips to the world.
And live
your life.

It's been raining here for a couple days, so I thought this would go with the gray.
These are some lovely dogwood trees I found this spring In Santa Rosa , I love how they are closed at the tops.

Boat yard

 

 

Driving by the boat yard the other day on the way to a hike on the beach I saw the fishermen bringing in their crab pots and selling crab on the dock. I had to stop to get some pics of the blue ropes and buoys : )

Apple Orchard

A recent visit to an apple orchard not too far from my house, such a gorgeous time of year : )

I sit in the shadow of apple-boughs,In the fragrant orchard close,
And around me floats the scented air,With its wave-like tidal flows.
I close my eyes in a dreamy bliss,And call no king my peer;
For is not this the rare, sweet time,The blossoming time of the year?
